Hypatia Mars Opens Call for Applications to Join the Hypatia III Crew

The Hypatia Mars Association has officially launched its call for applications to form the Hypatia III crew, inviting women from diverse disciplines and backgrounds to take part in a new analog space mission. Building on the success of previous missions in 2023 and 2025 at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah, this new initiative continues Hypatia’s commitment to promoting scientific research, outreach, and female leadership in the field of space exploration.

The selected crew will join Estel Blay (Commander), Laura González (Executive Officer) and Lucia Matamoros in a two-week simulation mission at an analog station, undertaking research projects related to space exploration, particularly focused on Mars or the Moon. Candidates from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. The various roles available within the crew include Health and Safety Officer, Crew Engineer, GreenHab Officer, Crew Scientist, Crew Geologist, Crew Biologist, Crew Astronomer, Crew Journalist, and Artist-in-Residence. Each position plays a vital role in ensuring the scientific success, operational safety, and visibility of the mission.

The application process is now open and will close on June 5th, 2025. Preselected candidates will be invited for personal interviews during June and July 2025, with the final crew announcement scheduled for the autumn of 2025.

Hypatia Mars continues to advocate for a more inclusive and representative scientific community by fostering environments where female role models in space exploration can thrive and inspire. Those interested in taking part in this extraordinary initiative are encouraged to submit their applications.
