Núria Jar

Hypatia I: Journalist

Journalist specialized in science, health, and international affairs. She currently works for the 3CatInfo news services (TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio)

Núria Jar has nearly more than 15 years of experience in science journalism. Throughout her career, she has contributed to some of the main media outlets in Catalonia and Spain, such as El País, La Vanguardia, the public science-news agency SINC, Muy Interesante magazine, and the independent media outlet Revista 5W. She is the author of many podcast audioseries, including Condició Humana, which tells stories between doctors and their patients, and Las científicas del coronavirus, funded by the National Geographic Society and winner of the Prismas award for best radio work in 2020. Over the course of her career, she has received several awards, such as the Concha García Campoy Prize in the written press category for the report Cuando el médico se convierte en paciente, published in La Vanguardia. She teaches radio at the master’s program in Scientific, Medical, and Environmental Communication at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), which she completed after earning a degree in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

She is a member of the Catalan Association for Science Communication and the Spanish Association for Science Communication. She has actively participated in various editions of the World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ) in Pretoria (South Africa), Lausanne (Switzerland), and Seoul (South Korea).
