Anna Bach, back-up crew scientist and artist in residence of Hypatia I, presented the Hypatia I mission in the civic center Palmira Domènech, in El Prat de Llobregat, near Barcelona.
Anna shared the details of the mission with the audience, who showed interest in this female-led mission to the Mars Desert Research Station next April 2023.
The talk belonged to a program of activities which celebrates Ada Lovelace month. Lovelace was an English mathematician and writer, who was the first to recognize that computers had applications beyond pure calculation. Ada Lovelace is considered the first computer programmer, as she published the first algorithm.
Hypatia will participate in more activities organized by Palmira Domènech civic center. For example, the crew is involved in answering questions from citizens who are interested in space exploring.
For example, people asked about the time it will take a rocket to get to Mars or the way astronauts pee in space. You can check all these questions here:
Hypatia crew members were involved in all these activities to popularize space exploration and inspire the next generations in STEM-related careers, especially girls and underrepresented groups.
